Overview

LoadCalculator.net (“we,” “our,” or “the site”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used. We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.

The short version: You do not need to create an account, provide your name, or submit any personal information to use any calculator on this site. The only data we collect is anonymous usage analytics.

What we collect

We use two third-party analytics services — Google Analytics (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity — to understand how visitors use the site. These services collect:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • General geographic location (country and province — not your street address)
  • Device type, browser, and operating system
  • How you arrived at the site (search engine, direct link, referral)
  • Interactions with the calculators (button clicks, form inputs) — aggregated and anonymized

Microsoft Clarity also records anonymized session replays and heatmaps showing how visitors interact with pages. Clarity automatically masks any sensitive input fields.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying personal information through the use of the calculators.

Cookies

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set cookies in your browser to distinguish returning visitors and track sessions. These cookies do not contain personal information. You can disable cookies in your browser settings or use a browser extension to block analytics tracking (such as uBlock Origin or the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on).

Why we collect this data

We use analytics data to:

  • Understand which calculators are most used and improve them
  • Identify pages with usability issues
  • Understand the geographic distribution of our users to prioritize provincial coverage
  • Monitor site performance and uptime

We do not sell, rent, or share this data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Third-party services

Google Analytics (GA4): Operated by Google LLC. Data may be processed in the United States. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

Microsoft Clarity: Operated by Microsoft Corporation. Data may be processed in the United States. Microsoft's privacy policy is available at privacy.microsoft.com.

Both services are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements. We have configured both services to anonymize IP addresses where possible.

Data retention

Google Analytics retains aggregated usage data for 14 months by default. Microsoft Clarity retains session recordings for 30 days. We do not independently store any user data beyond what these third-party services retain.

Your rights under PIPEDA

Under Canada's PIPEDA, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you (none, beyond what analytics services collect anonymously)
  • Request deletion of any personal information associated with you
  • Opt out of analytics tracking at any time by disabling cookies in your browser

Children's privacy

This site is intended for use by construction and trades professionals and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as we add new features or if our data practices change. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
